I was tired of dating apps

I spent a lot of time swiping on the apps.
I got really good at playing the game—going on 3–5 dates a week—but it took so much time and energy just to filter through profiles that weren’t even close to what I was looking for.
And I had a bad "picker."
Whether I met someone online or in the wild, I kept dating people who were great, but totally incompatible.
I started thinking:
Why can't these apps just show me the profiles of the people I'd actually be interested in and compatible with?
Enter a mid-life crisis

I turned 40 and freaked out.
I wanted to do something with my life that felt fulfilling and purposeful. Reviewing tech contracts wasn't it so after fourteen years as a lawyer, I quit my cushy in-house counsel job, threw my stuff in storage, and headed to South America to figure out what to do next.
"Oh yeah, what about that dating problem?"
As I was brainstorming, every person I talked to who was single was also frustrated with the current dating culture, especially the dating apps. I started thinking about the service I would want for myself—something that would make dating easy, less time intensive, and actually enjoyable.
Crux Compatible is born

The epiphany.
I'll just invite all the top singles in Austin who are dating intentionally and introduce them to each other.
Simple.
I vet everyone, have them fill out a compatibility questionnaire, and then I make introductions between the people I think would hit it off.
My process

Putting years of knowledge and experience to use.
I've been interested in relationship science and behavioral economics for years. Remember that "bad picker" issue? I spent years reading and doing therapy learning how to pick the right person and make the relationship work...
...and I figured it out 🙂

Now I apply what I've learned to make the right connections.
